Principal's message
Welcome to Murwillumbah East Public School, where it’s a daily hive of dynamic action as our students work hard to maximise their learning potential. Since 1958 when our school was established, it has been a productive but unassuming gem. It is nestled in a picturesque pocket of Murwillumbah on the eastern edge of town. Our school is surrounded by amazing views of the Border Ranges, billowing sugar cane fields and undulating banana farms. The school environs are lush and vast with many beautiful trees and a garden and playing fields.
Our professional, experienced and dedicated staff provides engaging and innovative learning opportunities for our students. The school’s focus on quality, explicit teaching regularly sees our students achieve value add learning above that of equivalent similar schools. Our collaborative model of practice ensures that all students are known and challenged in their learning.
Staff foster an inclusive and nurturing environment for every student through a strong focus on wellbeing and on having fun while we learn. We offer a range of opportunities for students to build their academic, behavioural, social or emotional needs. Our school is fortunate to host three multi-categorical Support Classes where our commitment to inclusivity means that every student feels valued and supported. We work closely with families and community members to create a collaborative environment where everyone plays a role in our children’s education. Together, we look to build a strong foundation for lifelong learning and personal growth.
Major transitions both to and from primary school are supported by extensive partnerships and programs with local preschools, high schools, and community groups. Our school is a proud member of both the Wollumbin Community and the Murwillumbah Community of Schools.
MEPS has an active and supportive Parents and Citizens (P&C) group that supports the school in its priorities and directions. The P&C employs a canteen manager to operate our school canteen and works well with all school staff to achieve some great opportunities for our students.
We’d love to talk more about our school with you so if you have any questions, contact the front office to organise an opportunity to chat. Enjoy!
