Our stage two and three students were very fortunate to host a visit from Mr Kevin Cheetham recently. Mr Cheetham was a participant in the re enactment of the Cooee March that celebrated the 100 year anniversary of the original march from Gilgandra to Sydney.
Family members of the original participants followed the route of the 1916 recruitment drive that was carried out on foot by a small group of men from Western New South Wales.
Mr Cheetham is a great story teller and was able to bring this fascinating piece of Australian history alive for our students by sharing his experiences and showing some wonderful photos of the walk.
