What students learn

English
English is a core subject in NSW public schools, focusing on reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills. The program aims to help students communicate effectively and confidently in everyday life and future learning.

Mathematics
Mathematics in NSW public schools helps students develop essential skills in numeracy, problem-solving, and logical thinking. The curriculum covers topics such as number, algebra, measurement, space, statistics, and probability.
Science
Science at NSW public schools encourages curiosity and understanding of the natural world through hands-on experiments and investigations. At MEPS, students benefit from a specialist science teacher who delivers engaging lessons across a range of topics such as biology, chemistry, physics, and earth sciences.

Geography
Geography at NSW public schools helps students explore the world around them, including places, environments, and cultures. Lessons are often conducted in the Cultural Centre, providing a rich and engaging learning environment.

History
History at NSW public schools helps students understand the past and how it shapes our world today. Aboriginal history is a key focus and is often taught in the Cultural Centre to provide a deeper connection to Indigenous cultures and perspectives.

Creative Arts
Creative Arts at MEPS encourages students to express themselves through visual arts, music, drama, and dance. MEPS has a specalist teacher for the performing arts, and students attend lessons weekly.
Personal Development, health and Physical Education (PDHPE)
PDHPE (Personal Development, Health and Physical Education) in NSW public schools promotes students’ physical fitness, well-being, and healthy lifestyle choices. The program includes activities that develop motor skills, teamwork, and knowledge about personal health and safety.
Additional learning
Religion and Ethics
Primary schools provide additional learning opportunities like Special Religious Education (SRE) to support students' spiritual and moral growth. At MEPS, students can participate in a half-hour weekly Anglican or Catholic program or, alternatively, parents may choose for their child to attend Non-Scripture classes, where students engage in meaningful e-learning activities unrelated to religion.
