Programs

Environment programs

Our students enjoy one of the most beautiful and scenic playgrounds in the district. Not only do we have vast grassy playing fields with a breath taking view of the distant hills, we have a thriving vegetable garden, a friendly flock of much loved chickens, a dedicated frog pond and lots of leafy, shady areas in which to play.

All of this is taken care of by Mr Daryl Albury who works tirelessly to maintain our grounds and Ms Sue Hennessy who, with a dedicated band of volunteers and many enthusiastic students, develops and nurtures our school gardens.

Each Tuesday morning a group of students of all ages get together with Sue and her volunteers to tackle a project in the garden. A plethora of skills are developed and a great love of the environment is nurtured.

Thanks to everyones hard work and enthusiasm, our gardens thrive and continue to win awards for their quality and variety!

Water safety program

Students from years five and six were keen participants in a water safety program offered by Tweed River Aquatic Centres recently as part of Water Safety Week.

Educaters from the centre spoke to the students about water safety strategies and the importance of safe behaviour around any body of water including pools, beaches and our rivers.

Students explored water rescue methods using a range of available materials and were able to practice CPR techniques.

It was invaluable training for young people who spend so much time near water and the program was great fun for all participants.
