About our school

Murwillumbah East Public School is located in the Tweed Valley of NSW. Our school was established in 1958. It is a hidden gem, nestled in a picturesque pocket of Murwillumbah on the eastern edge of town. Our school is surrounded by amazing views of the Border Ranges, billowing sugar cane fields and undulating banana farms. The school environs are lush and vast with many beautiful trees and a garden and playing fields.

Our professional, experienced and dedicated staff provides engaging and innovative learning opportunities for our 170 students. The school has an inclusive School Support Unit catering for students across the Tweed Coast network of schools.

A strong focus at our school is student wellbeing. As a key priority, we have a large, proactive and supportive learning and wellbeing team that supports students with their academic, behavioural, social and emotional needs and extends that support to families. Our school is fortunate to host two Multi-categorical Support Classes, a Departmental Resource, for students with disability.

MEPS encourages students to have a voice and has intentional opportunities for students to drive decision-making on behalf of the students. We run an exceptional student leadership program. The Student Representative Council, library monitors and an environmental group lead our student body, assist with school planning and represent student leadership and voice within our school. and student leadership development programs ensure all students are considered leaders in our school community.

Major transitions both to and from primary school are supported by extensive partnerships and programs with local preschools, high schools, and community groups. Our school is a proud member of both the Wollumbin Community and the Murwillumbah Community of Schools.

MEPS has an active and supportive Parents and Citizens (P&C) group that supports the school in its priorities and directions. The P&C employs a canteen manager to operate our school canteen.
