Murwillumbah East has a proud, strong and active group of indigenous students who are supported by a dedicated group of parents and volunteers. The group meet weekly to explore their culture and stories. Thanks to their hard work and enthusiasm, we were able to celebrate NAIDOC day at our school with a fantastic performance by our indigenous dance group and accept the presentation of a stunning mural created by our indigenous studentsmembers and local indigenous artists. It was a wonderful way to celebrate the traditional owners of the land on which we work and play and their invaluable contribution to our whole school community.
